Process Studies

A process study answers one hard question with numbers: how much more can this unit do, what is holding it back, and what is the cheapest way to fix it. Cerasus combines plant data, rigorous simulation and field experience to find the real constraint.

What it means

Process Studies, explained.

Process studies cover capacity and debottlenecking assessment, energy and utility optimisation, revamp feasibility, hydraulic adequacy, flare and relief system adequacy, and operability reviews. Each is a scoped investigation with a defined question, a data set, a model and a ranked set of options.

The value is in the rigour: a bottleneck identified from historian data and a rated model, then checked against equipment datasheets and field observation, rather than assumed from folklore.

What Cerasus provides

Scope of service

Capacity & debottlenecking

Rate every major item (columns, exchangers, compressors, pumps, lines) against target throughput and rank the limiters.

Energy & pinch studies

Composite curves, exchanger-network targets and quick-win utility savings.

Hydraulic & line sizing checks

Pressure-drop audits of critical circuits including two-phase and flare headers.

Revamp feasibility

Options with equipment changes, cost bands and expected benefit, ready for a management decision.

Operability & troubleshooting

Root-cause analysis of recurring upsets, off-spec product and equipment fouling.

Performance test support

Test-run planning, data reconciliation and post-test rating.

How we do it

Our approach, step by step

Frame the question

Fix the target rate, product specs and battery limits.

Data & reconciliation

Pull historian and lab data; reconcile balances so the model matches the plant.

Rate & rank

Rate each equipment item; identify first, second and third bottlenecks.

Options & recommendation

Cost and benefit of each option; a recommended path with next steps.
