Front-End Engineering Design and the Basic Engineering Package are where a project's technical risk is retired. Cerasus produces the definition a plant owner can commit money to: a design basis, flow schemes, balances and P&IDs that survive detailed engineering unchanged.
FEED converts a conceptual scheme into a defined process: capacity, feed and product specifications, operating envelope, and the equipment list that meets them. A Basic Engineering Package (BEP) is its deliverable set — the documents an EPC contractor needs to start detailed design without re-deriving the process.
Done well, FEED fixes the scope, sets the cost estimate accuracy (AACE Class 4/3), and embeds safety from the first P&ID revision: relief philosophy, isolation, control and shutdown philosophies are decided here, not patched in later.
Process design basis, control, operating, isolation, relief and shutdown philosophies agreed with your operations team.
Simulated (Aspen HYSYS / Aspen Plus) balances for design, turndown and alternate feed cases.
Issued through IFR → IFD → IFH with HAZOP actions closed on the drawings, not in a spreadsheet.
Columns, vessels, exchangers, pumps and compressors sized to API/ASME; process datasheets ready for vendor enquiry.
Instrument index, control narratives, cause & effect (C&E) matrices and SIS Safety Requirements Specification at FEED maturity.
Class 5/4 estimate basis with equipment MTO, utility summaries and plot-plan input.
Agree capacity, feeds, products, site conditions and applicable standards.
Build the process model; size equipment and lines for all operating cases.
Issue PFDs and P&IDs; run HAZOP and close actions into the package.
Compile datasheets, philosophies, C&E and estimate basis for handover to EPC.
